How will it be funded?

Local clubs such as Moles, Weir Lounge and Xl will help fund the magazine in return for advertisement and promotion. Urban Outfitters would also be a sponsor for the magazine as they are relevant and an interest to students at Bath Spa.

Final design idea

(Ignore bad quality)
Includes fixed logo idea and simple illustration for the cover.

What Makes my magazine unique?

Will be relevant to the students studying at Bath Spa, especially Sion hill students.
Every front cover features an illustration.
Front cover can be detached.
Free
Target audience is for both male and female

I have finalised the name as 'Spa-ghetti' after other various ideas playing with the word 'Spa'. I think it adds a fun element to the magazine. The logo will look something like this.

I would like 'Spa-ghetti' magazine too be fun, vibrant and stylish, similar to Wallpaper. I would also like each issue out to have a different illustration on, which should make them collectable, maybe this could be detachable and form a poster.

Fixed pages in my magazine

Music - This is popular in society generally and a big part of socialising too for students, it's a way to unwind. There is a thriving music scene in Bath which suits everyones needs, so including this into my magazine is vital. This will also be included in the 'whats on' page however it would also be a good oppertunity for up and coming/local bands to get some recognition.

Fashion - Include affordable fashion for both boys and girls as well as a best dressed page.

Spotted - This 'spotted' idea has already been extremely popular on online social networking sites such as facebook, where people submit humorous goings on around the campus's, this will be applied to mainly waterside and charlton court.

Sion Hill/Newton Park news and gossip - Any notices which students need to know about anything and everything study related.

Whats on - This will be events such as gigs, theatre, shows, festivals, cinema, art exhibitions etc.

Competitions - An oppertunity for students to win prizes! Discount codes - For restaurants, clubs, bars, pubs, cinema and clothing.

SpaLife magazine

SpaLife magazine is good in the way that it is specific to the students studying at Bath Spa. It is also targeted to both male and female audiences which makes it more accessible and readable. On the other hand I feel that SpaLife leans towards a more educational read, which is good, however, I want my magazine to be more enjoyable, fun and entertaining. The appearance of the SpaLife logo isn't very intriguing and again adds to the educational appearance of the front cover. As a competitor to my magazine, mine will be unique in the way that it will be designed by students and involve Sion Hill students as well as Newton Park.

The competitors below all have a lot in common with one another. They are all targeted at a female audience and aren't particularly specific to university happenings. It has made me realise that I would definitely like my magazine to be for Bath Spa students, both male and female.
